How do we acquire wisdom along with all these shiny things? (David Brin) Is technology a crutch for bailing us out of trouble? Is the question "Should we?" asked enough? How do we get society to start every technical pursuit by asking ouselves "Is this a good idea to pursue?" and "What are the long-term ramifications?" And how do we get society to value intangible aspects (quality of life...) and side-effects (pollution...) equally with economic value?
